Dentures are removable appliances made of acrylic or acrylic and metal to replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. Dr. Ibrahim is proficient in the diagnosis, treatment planning and completion of dentures. This is a standard procedure at Viva Dental Dryden that meets the needs of a large portion of our patient base.
Dentures could be partial or complete depending on the number of missing teeth. Several styles of denture designs are available. Below is a description of a few common ones.
all types of dentures are not easy to get used to immediately after placement. They require patience, guidance and support from your dental team and may require several adjustments before they fit well. Don't hesitate to return as frequently as you wish to have your denture adjusted or to speak to us about your concerns. Most denture issues can be resolved with adjustments in the office.

1. Complete Dentures: Complete dentures are those made for patients who are missing all teeth in one or both arches. Many patients who have missing teeth and need to improve their quality of life should look into having teeth replacement. Complete dentures allow better eating capacity, improved speech and esthetics and restore the facial height that patients lose when teeth are extracted. Complete dentures require a good size bony ridge to have adequate retention. Many of our aging population suffer the loss of their bony ridge and often have problems with "loose" dentures. There are a few ways we can increase retention. Some of these ways are readily available and easy to do.
2. Complete Dentures with natural teeth abutments (underlying teeth support): In this case, the patients are fortunate to have a few teeth left that have healthy roots ( missing the crown of the tooth) These few teeth can be left in the arches and the dentures can be made on top of them. The roots act as anchors for the complete dentures and can have coping crowns (small metal caps ) on them with attachments to grip the denture and keep in it place. This is one of the most successful complete denture procedures we know of. Dr. Ibrahim performs this procedure regularly and patient satisfaction is incredible. The roots of natural teeth can be a powerful anchor for the dentures that may otherwise not fit tightly.
